Importance of the Regulatory Framework in the Training of Nursing Professionals in El Salvador

This study analyzes the ethical and legal knowledge of nursing professionals from different academic levels, affiliated with various institutions in the health sector. It was conducted under a quantitative approach and a hypothetical-deductive method, using a descriptive cross-sectional design; the sample consisted of 43 professionals who were administered an 18-item structured questionnaire, and the data were processed using descriptive statistics, considering dimensions such as the ethicallegal framework, professional practice, ethical principles, and legal consequences. The results reveal confusion between ethical principles and moral values, as well as limited awareness of the legal implications derived from ethically questionable practices; additionally, a lack of knowledge was identified regarding the body responsible for enforcing disciplinary procedures and the classification of infractions. Based on these findings, an integrative theoretical model of ethical and legal content for nursing education is proposed, aimed at strengthening professional competencies and preventing legal risks.
